The Haibara Chiyogami Needle Threader is a collaboration with Haibara, a historic Japanese paper maker with over 200 years of tradition in Nihonbashi, Tokyo.
Chiyogami is a patterned Japanese paper, and Haibara has long worked with artists and illustrators to create original designs, many of which are still available today. From their extensive collection, three patterns were selected and reprinted in Cohana’s original colours.
The threader’s handle is crafted from this high-quality Chiyogami, giving it a smooth feel and a comfortable, stable grip that makes threading even small needle eyes easier. Its hexagonal shape is considered auspicious in Japan, symbolising harmony and stability, and is often used for celebratory items.
It makes an excellent gift, especially when paired with the Assorted Needles in Haibara Chiyogami Pack, which features the same traditional paper.
